Pumpkin Loaf with Cream Cheese Frosting
Pumpkin spice season is finally here, and this loaf is exactly the kind of cozy, easy bake that makes the whole house smell like fall. Moist, warmly spiced, and topped with a tangy cream cheese frosting.

Ingredients
- 130g sugar
- 2 eggs
- 200g pumpkin purée, grated or canned
- 300g flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 180g unsalted butter
Frosting
- 140g cream cheese
- 50g icing sugar
- Zest of 1 orange
Directions
- Preheat oven to 180°C/350°F. Cream butter and sugar until pale and fluffy, then add eggs and vanilla, mixing well.
- Fold in the pumpkin purée, then gradually add flour and baking powder until just combined — don't overmix.
- Pour into a lined loaf tin and bake for 60-70 minutes, until a skewer comes out clean.
- Once cooled, whisk cream cheese, icing sugar, and a splash of the reserved pumpkin juice (if using fresh pumpkin) until smooth. Spread over the cooled loaf and finish with orange zest.
