If you haven't heard of croffles yet, get ready — this croissant-waffle hybrid has been taking over social media, and it's genuinely as good as it looks. Crispy, flaky, buttery, with all the fun texture of a waffle. Best part? It takes about 5 minutes if you're using store-bought croissants.
Preheat your waffle iron to medium-high heat.
Take each croissant and gently press it down with your palm to flatten it slightly — you want it flat enough to fit the waffle iron, but don't crush it completely.
Dust both sides of the flattened croissant lightly with granulated sugar. This is what gives the croffle its signature crisp, caramelized edges.
Place the croissant in the waffle iron and close the lid. Press down gently for the first few seconds to help it take the waffle shape.
Cook for 3-4 minutes, until deep golden brown and crisp on the outside. You'll know it's ready when it stops steaming as much and smells intensely buttery.
Carefully remove from the waffle iron — it will be delicate straight out, so let it sit for 30 seconds before moving it.
Top with your choice of Nutella, Biscoff, fresh berries, whipped cream, or all of the above. Dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately while warm and crisp.
Tip: day-old croissants work better than fresh ones — they're slightly firmer and hold the waffle shape without falling apart in the iron.
